Vedic weekdays: planetary lords and sunrise
The seven Vedic weekdays each have a planetary lord. A traditional vara runs from local sunrise to the next sunrise, unlike a civil day that begins at midnight. Choose a day below to see its Sanskrit name, planetary-hour sequence and a reflection prompt, then check the panchang for local times.

How do I use these guides?
Start with the calculation facts in each guide. For current timing, check the panchang or today's sky. Read the methodology before comparing results from different calculators.
How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
