Life path number calculator: every step shown

Your life path number comes from your full birth date: reduce the month, day and year to single digits, keeping the master numbers 11, 22 and 33, then add and reduce again. Someone born June 15, 1990 has life path 4. This calculator shows every step and the alternative whole-string sum.

What is your life path number?

Only your birth date is needed. It is calculated on this device and never sent or stored.

How is a life path number calculated?

This calculator uses the common Pythagorean method. Reduce the month, the day and the year separately by adding their digits until each is a single digit, but keep 11, 22 and 33 as master numbers. Add the three results and reduce again, keeping master numbers. Example: June 15, 1990 → 6; 1 + 5 = 6; 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 10 → 1; 6 + 6 + 1 = 13 → 4.

Some numerologists add every digit of the date in one string instead. Usually the two methods agree; when they differ (most often around master numbers) the result shows both, so you can see why another site gave a different answer. Numerology is a symbolic reflection practice, not a measurement of character. See all numerology guides and the personal year calculator.

How we calculate

Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?

No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.

How are these results calculated?

Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
