Ketu in Sagittarius: Vedic and Western readings
Ketu in Sagittarius, with Rahu in Gemini, is read here through already knowing the creed, and a disputed exaltation. This page leads with the Jyotish view of Ketu as a shadow graha read through its sign lord, house and dasha, then notes the Western South Node. It is a reflection prompt, not a forecast.

What is Rahu and Ketu?
Ketu is the south lunar node, the point opposite Rahu, and a chhaya (shadow) graha in Jyotish. It is read through its sign lord, house, conjunctions and dasha period; the Western equivalent is the South Node.
Western / tropical
In Western charts this is the South Node in Sagittarius, read as a familiar fluency with big ideas, belief systems and confident advice. As a reflective prompt, it asks when you last changed your mind in front of someone. The person who can quote a philosophy for any situation might see themselves here. The Gemini North Node carries the Western growth story.
Vedic / sidereal
Sagittarius is the other sign named as Ketu's exaltation, a view some hold against those who prefer Scorpio, so the point is disputed. Jupiter rules the sign, and Ketu here is often read as a natural feel for philosophy with little interest in its institutions. Someone might know a scripture well and still skip the gathering. A Jyotishi weighs Jupiter's dignity, Ketu's conjunctions and house, and the 7-year Ketu dasha. Rahu falls in Gemini.
Sign labels depend on the zodiac. Confirm that Ketu is in Sagittarius in the chart you are reading; if it is only Sagittarius tropically, read the sidereal page for its other sign as well.
A small practice
Write down one belief you hold firmly. Then write the best case you can for the opposite view, in three sentences, without arguing back.
How to find Rahu in birth chart?
Calculate Ketu for the birth instant and label the zodiac. The table shows what changes between the two lenses; it is a reference, not your personal chart.

Activation
When is Ketu in Sagittarius next?
Calculated from the mean lunar node, window January 2026 to December 2028, dates in UTC. Right now Ketu is in tropical Leo and sidereal Leo.
Ketu does not occupy Sagittarius in either zodiac between now and the end of 2028. It moves slowly enough to stay in one sign for a year or more, so this placement belongs to people born in other periods: a shared backdrop, not a personal date.
Common questions
Why do my tropical and sidereal signs differ?
They use different zodiac reference systems. Read the label on each computed chart rather than subtracting a whole sign.
Can this placement predict what will happen to me?
No. One placement cannot establish events, timing or how other people will behave. Read it with the whole chart and your own experience.
What does activation mean here?
It is an optional chart-based timing label for reflection, not a probability of an event.

The traditional sign lord in the table agrees with Bṛhat Jātaka 1.6 and the separately transmitted BPHS chapter 4, verses 6–24.[30][31] The BPHS web transcription has editorial/OCR errors, so it is a corroborating witness, not a critical edition. Dignity labels, the sidereal offset and time-in-sign figures are standard reference values not yet tied to a ledger passage. The interpretive prose is original writing; the empty activation slot is a product requirement, not a sourced prediction.

Vedic lens
What does the Vedic lens add?
A Vedic reading of Ketu in Sagittarius begins with a sidereal position, not the tropical sign label on a Western chart. The interpretive topic is selectivity and detachment from familiar rewards, expressed through testing a guiding principle. That is a symbolic starting point rather than a personality verdict.
In the traditional seven-graha rulership scheme, Sagittarius belongs to Jupiter. For Ketu, this is a sign whose dispositor is Jupiter. Nodal dignity differs across schools, so no exaltation or debilitation label is assigned here.
An original reflection prompt: What can you simplify without abandoning a responsibility? For timing, examine Ketu's role in the complete mahadasha–antardasha chain rather than treating this placement as a dated forecast. Other associations and practical circumstances can change the reading. We omit medical and fatalistic claims; decisions still need evidence beyond the chart.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
