North Node in Scorpio: Western and Vedic readings
The North Node in Scorpio, with the South Node in Taurus, is read here through letting go of what feels safe to hold. This page follows the Western nodal-axis reading; the Jyotish view of the same point is on the Rahu page. Use it as a reflection prompt, not a statement of destiny.

What is North Node in astrology?
In Western astrology the North Node is the point where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path heading north; it is read as a direction of growth, with the South Node opposite as familiar habit. In Jyotish the same point is Rahu.
Western / tropical
With a Scorpio North Node and a Taurus South Node, the familiar comfort is keeping things as they are. That could be a car well past its repair value, a job you outgrew, or the same order at the same cafe for eight years. The growth direction is toward change and shared depth: opening a joint account, asking for help with money, letting someone see the messy part. A Western reading treats this as practice in trusting what you cannot fully control.
Vedic / sidereal
In Jyotish this point is Rahu, with a reading built on appetite and amplification; the Rahu page covers it. Sidereally many of these nodes fall in Libra, which makes Venus the dispositor to weigh instead of Mars.
Check the zodiac label before using this page. A tropical Scorpio placement may be sidereal Libra, so each lens needs its own calculation, and no single sign settles how the rest of the chart reads.
A small practice
List three things you keep mainly because changing them feels risky. Pick the smallest one and change it this month, even slightly, then see how it feels a week later.
How to find North Node in birth chart?
Calculate the North Node for the birth instant and label the zodiac. The table shows what changes between the two lenses; it is a reference, not your personal chart.
| Check | Value |
|---|---|
| Tropical placement | North Node in Scorpio |
| Opposite point (South Node / Ketu) | Taurus |
| Sidereal (Lahiri) offset | about 24° in the 2020s; tropical Scorpio 0°-24° is roughly sidereal Libra, the last 6° stay Scorpio |
| Traditional sign lord (used in Jyotish) | Mars |
| Modern Western ruler | Pluto (modern co-ruler); Mars (traditional) |
| Classical dignity of North Node | Rahu debilitation is disputed; Scorpio is one of the signs proposed |
| Time North Node spends in one sign | about 18 months |
Activation
When is North Node in Scorpio next?
Calculated from the mean lunar node, window January 2026 to December 2028, dates in UTC. Right now the North Node is in tropical Aquarius and sidereal Aquarius.
The North Node does not occupy Scorpio in either zodiac between now and the end of 2028. It moves slowly enough to stay in one sign for a year or more, so this placement belongs to people born in other periods: a shared backdrop, not a personal date.
Common questions
Why do my tropical and sidereal signs differ?
They use different zodiac reference systems. Read the label on each computed chart rather than subtracting a whole sign.
Can this placement predict what will happen to me?
No. One placement cannot establish events, timing or how other people will behave. Read it with the whole chart and your own experience.
What does activation mean here?
It is an optional chart-based timing label for reflection, not a probability of an event.

The traditional sign lord in the table agrees with Bṛhat Jātaka 1.6 and the separately transmitted BPHS chapter 4, verses 6–24.[30][31] The BPHS web transcription has editorial/OCR errors, so it is a corroborating witness, not a critical edition. Dignity labels, the sidereal offset and time-in-sign figures are standard reference values not yet tied to a ledger passage. The interpretive prose is original writing; the empty activation slot is a product requirement, not a sourced prediction.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
