Rahu in Sagittarius: Vedic and Western readings
Rahu in Sagittarius, with Ketu in Gemini, is read here through a hunger for belief, teachers and big answers. This page leads with the Jyotish view of Rahu as a shadow graha read through its sign lord, house and dasha, then notes the Western North Node. It is a reflection prompt, not a forecast.

What is Rahu astrology?
Rahu is the north lunar node, counted in Jyotish as a chhaya (shadow) graha. It has no body of its own, so it is read through its sign lord, house, conjunctions and dasha period.
Western / tropical
A Western astrologer would see a Sagittarius North Node and talk about moving from collecting facts to choosing a direction. Reflectively, that asks what belief you would stake a real decision on. Jyotish frames Rahu in this sign as an appetite for meaning itself, which can turn restless when no single answer satisfies for long.
Vedic / sidereal
Jupiter rules Sagittarius, so Rahu here is read through Jupiter: teachers, belief systems, higher learning and ethics. The appetite might look like collecting online course certificates or moving from one teacher to the next when the first stops feeling new. A Jyotishi would check Jupiter's dignity, Rahu's house and conjunctions, and the 18-year dasha. Rahu borrows the dispositor's tone, so a well placed Jupiter reads very differently from a weak one. Ketu sits in Gemini.
Sign labels depend on the zodiac. Confirm that Rahu is in Sagittarius in the chart you are reading; if it is only Sagittarius tropically, read the sidereal page for its other sign as well.
A small practice
List the courses, books or teachers you started in the last two years. Mark the ones you finished. Pick one unfinished one to complete before starting anything new.

Common questions
Why do my tropical and sidereal signs differ?
They use different zodiac reference systems. Read the label on each computed chart rather than subtracting a whole sign.
Can this placement predict what will happen to me?
No. One placement cannot establish events, timing or how other people will behave. Read it with the whole chart and your own experience.
What does activation mean here?
It is an optional chart-based timing label for reflection, not a probability of an event.

The traditional sign lord in the table agrees with Bṛhat Jātaka 1.6 and the separately transmitted BPHS chapter 4, verses 6–24.[30][31] The BPHS web transcription has editorial/OCR errors, so it is a corroborating witness, not a critical edition. Dignity labels, the sidereal offset and time-in-sign figures are standard reference values not yet tied to a ledger passage. The interpretive prose is original writing; the empty activation slot is a product requirement, not a sourced prediction.

Vedic lens
What does the Vedic lens add?
A Vedic reading of Rahu in Sagittarius begins with a sidereal position, not the tropical sign label on a Western chart. The interpretive topic is novelty and amplified appetite, expressed through testing a guiding principle. That is a symbolic starting point rather than a personality verdict.
In the traditional seven-graha rulership scheme, Sagittarius belongs to Jupiter. For Rahu, this is a sign whose dispositor is Jupiter. Nodal dignity differs across schools, so no exaltation or debilitation label is assigned here.
An original reflection prompt: What makes an unfamiliar opportunity credible beyond its novelty? For timing, examine Rahu's role in the complete mahadasha–antardasha chain rather than treating this placement as a dated forecast. Other associations and practical circumstances can change the reading. We omit medical and fatalistic claims; decisions still need evidence beyond the chart.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
