Orb: meaning in astrology
An orb is how far from exact an aspect can be and still count. If the Sun is at 10 degrees Aries and Mars at 16 degrees Leo, they form a trine with a 6-degree orb. Many astrologers allow about 6 to 8 degrees for major aspects and more when the Sun or Moon is involved, with tighter limits for minor aspects.

There is no single rule, and the closer an aspect is to exact, the stronger it is usually considered.
Where does "Orb" come up on this site?
It is used mainly in the calculators and the methodology page.
How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
