Tara bala: meaning in astrology

Tara bala measures how the day's nakshatra relates to your birth nakshatra. Count from your janma nakshatra to the day's nakshatra and divide into nine groups, called taras: Janma, Sampat, Vipat, Kshema, Pratyari, Sadhaka, Vadha, Mitra and Parama Mitra. The 3rd, 5th and 7th are traditionally avoided for important starts, and the 1st is often treated with caution.

It makes a generally good day personal, which is why two people can get different muhurta advice for the same date.

Where does "Tara bala" come up on this site?

It is used mainly in the calculators and the methodology page.

How we calculate

Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?

No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.

How are these results calculated?

Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
