Nakshatra
Revati nakshatra: Pūṣan, Mercury and the last step
Revati (Revatī) is the twenty-seventh and last nakshatra, closing sidereal Pisces from 16°40' to 30°00'. Its god is Pūṣan, the Vedic guardian of roads and travelers, and its Vimshottari lord is Mercury. The symbol is commonly given as a fish or a drum. Classical muhurta counts Revati as mṛdu, or soft.

Revatī means "wealthy" or "abundant," and it is the last stop before the zodiac starts again at Ashwini. Its god walks people home, and most of what gets written about Revati follows from that.

Pūṣan, the guide on the road
Revatī's deity is Pūṣan in the Sanskrit Bṛhat Saṃhitā, and the muhurta verse calls the nakshatra pauṣṇa, "belonging to Pūṣan."[32] An English translation's table prints a different name here; this site follows the Sanskrit. Pūṣan protects roads, finds lost cattle and guides the dead safely on their way. A pair of fish, the common symbol, fits the last nakshatra of Pisces.
Prompts for the end of a cycle
Revati is associated with care, gentleness and seeing things through to the end. Read that as questions:
- Who have you helped find their way, and who helped you find yours?
- What are you finishing this year that deserves a proper ending?
- Where is your kindness turning into rescuing people who did not ask?
How do I find my moon sign?
You need birth date, time and place. The Moon spends only two to three days in each sign, so the time matters on change-over days. For Vedic astrology the answer is the sidereal sign, and a Revati Moon is always a Pisces Moon there, even if a Western app says Aries. Enter your details in the nakshatra calculator for the sidereal sign, nakshatra and pada, and see sidereal for why the two zodiacs disagree.
| Pada | Sidereal span | Navamsa sign |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 16°40'-20°00' Pisces | Sagittarius |
| 2 | 20°00'-23°20' Pisces | Capricorn |
| 3 | 23°20'-26°40' Pisces | Aquarius |
| 4 | 26°40'-30°00' Pisces | Pisces |
Pada 4 is vargottama. It is also the last slice before Aries, a water-to-fire junction some traditions treat as gandanta and mark with a pacifying rite. That is ritual custom, not a judgment about anyone born there.
Muhurta uses
Bṛhat Saṃhitā names Anurādhā, Citrā, Revatī and Mṛgaśīrṣa as mṛdu (soft), for friendship, lovemaking, clothing, ornaments, auspicious ceremonies and song.[32] With a god of safe roads behind it, many people also choose Revati for setting out, but that comes from later custom, not this verse. Practical deadlines come first.
The verse for this nakshatra is on the Revati mantra page. Uttara Bhadrapada comes before it, and the cycle restarts with Ashwini.
Source review
Pūṣan as deity (verses 4-5) and the mṛdu list naming Revatī as pauṣṇa (verse 10) are from Bṛhat Saṃhitā chapter 97 in the Sanskrit edition, numbered 98 in the English translation.[32] The travel custom, English glosses, symbol and prompts are editorial.

Vedic lens
What does the Vedic lens add?
Revati is lunar mansion 27 in the standard 27-part sidereal sequence. Its span is 13 degrees and 20 arcminutes, divided into four padas of 3 degrees and 20 arcminutes. A Moon placement should be calculated in a named ayanamsa before applying a natal interpretation.
In Vimshottari, its starting lord is Mercury. The fraction of the mansion still ahead of the Moon determines the remaining balance of that first major period. This does not mean everyone with a Revati Moon begins life with a complete Mercury period.
Natal meaning and electional timing answer different questions. A birth placement is not a recommendation to schedule every important activity under the same mansion. Check the current tithi, local time, and the practical deadline separately. Our editorial prompt is to compare one familiar response with a concrete alternative before making a decision; that is a reflection exercise, not a translated classical prediction.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
