What is North Node in astrology?

In Western astrology the North Node is the point where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's path heading north; it is read as a direction of growth, with the South Node opposite as familiar habit. In Jyotish the same point is Rahu.

Western / tropical

When the South Node is in Aquarius and the North Node in Leo, the familiar move is to disappear into the group. You contribute ideas at the meeting and let the slide deck go out under the team logo. You prefer being one voice in the chat. The Leo direction is personal visibility: signing the drawing, singing the solo at the open mic, saying I made this. A Western reading frames this as practice in being seen as an individual, which can feel oddly uncomfortable for people who are good at belonging.

Vedic / sidereal

In Jyotish the same point is Rahu, and its sign is read through the lord of that sign; see the Rahu page for the Vedic angle. Sidereally many of these charts place the node in Cancer, which hands the dispositor role from the Sun to the Moon.

Check the zodiac label before using this page. A tropical Leo placement may be sidereal Cancer, so each lens needs its own calculation, and no single sign settles how the rest of the chart reads.

The traditional sign lord in the table agrees with Bṛhat Jātaka 1.6 and the separately transmitted BPHS chapter 4, verses 6–24.[30][31] The BPHS web transcription has editorial/OCR errors, so it is a corroborating witness, not a critical edition. Dignity labels, the sidereal offset and time-in-sign figures are standard reference values not yet tied to a ledger passage. The interpretive prose is original writing; the empty activation slot is a product requirement, not a sourced prediction.
