Hora: meaning in astrology
A hora is a planetary hour. Vedic and older Western traditions divide the day into 24 horas, each ruled by a planet in the sequence Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, starting at sunrise with the lord of the weekday.

That is why Sunday begins with a Sun hora and Monday with a Moon hora. In Jyotish, hora is also the name of a divisional chart that splits each sign into two halves.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
