Synastry: meaning in astrology
Synastry is the comparison of two birth charts to see how two people's placements interact. An astrologer lays one chart over the other and notes the aspects between them, such as one person's Venus trine the other's Moon, and which houses each person's planets fall in.

It applies to any relationship, not only romance. Vedic astrology has its own matching method, kuta matching, which scores the two Moon nakshatras. Try the synastry calculator .

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
