Compatibility
Aries and Capricorn compatibility: a cardinal square
Aries and Capricorn are a square, three signs apart, and both are cardinal, so both want to lead. Aries moves fast; Capricorn moves with a plan. That is the shape the Sun signs give. Synastry compares both charts fully, Moon, Venus, Mars, rising and aspects, and two people's choices outweigh it.
Who is Aries soulmate?
Aries has no soulmate sign in astrology. If it did, no one could agree on it, judging by the dozen different answers online. What Capricorn offers Aries is a long game. Aries can start ten things in a month; a Capricorn colleague, parent or partner helps pick the one worth finishing and then actually finish it.

Where it tends to flow
Ambition is shared. Both want to get somewhere, and neither is lazy. Traditional astrology says Mars, Aries's ruler, is exalted in Capricorn, and the pairing often shows why: Capricorn gives Aries's energy a target. Aries, in turn, gets Capricorn moving when caution turns into delay.
Where friction shows up
Two cardinal signs both want the wheel. Aries wants to act now and fix mistakes later; Capricorn wants to plan properly and avoid the mistakes. Aries can find Capricorn controlling and gloomy, while Capricorn can find Aries reckless. Under stress, Aries flares and Capricorn goes cold, which makes both worse.
How to work with it
- Plan in phases: Aries owns the first push, Capricorn owns the follow-through.
- In arguments, keep it to the current issue. Aries argues hot and fast, Capricorn argues with evidence from three years ago.
- Set a decision deadline that is quicker than Capricorn wants and slower than Aries wants.
- Rest actively for Aries (a workout) and quietly for Capricorn (an early night); do not force one style on the other.
- Celebrate finished things together, which both secretly love.
Both lenses
Roughly four in five tropical Aries are sidereal Pisces and four in five tropical Capricorns are sidereal Sagittarius, so in a Vedic chart this square may not exist. Check both. The signs' character is described similarly in each system. Read about Aries and Capricorn, compare your full charts, or see the compatibility hub.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
