Navamsa: meaning in astrology
The navamsa is the ninth divisional chart, or D9. Each sign is split into nine parts of 3 degrees 20 minutes, and each part is assigned a sign, producing a second chart from the same birth moment. Vedic astrologers use it to judge a planet's underlying strength and to look at partnership and dharma.

Because a navamsa sign changes every 13 minutes of clock time on the ascendant, the D9 rising sign is very sensitive to birth time.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
