Vimshottari dasha: meaning in astrology
Vimshottari is the 120-year dasha system and the default in most Vedic software. Graha Years Ketu 7 Venus 20 Sun 6 Moon 10 Mars 7 Rahu 18 Jupiter 16 Saturn 19 Mercury 17 Your starting period is the lord of your birth nakshatra, and the balance left in it depends on how far the Moon had traveled through that nakshatra.

A few minutes' error in birth time can move dasha dates by days.

How we calculate
Is astrology a guarantee of what will happen?
No. These calculations locate celestial bodies; astrology is a reflection and timing tradition, not evidence of guaranteed health, financial or relationship outcomes.
How are these results calculated?
Positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and are checked against Swiss Ephemeris in our methodology tests. Western readings use the tropical zodiac; Vedic readings subtract the Lahiri ayanamsa. Terms are defined in the glossary.
